Formby High School Open Evening 2014

Formby High Volcanic Hotspot Erupts!

This year, our exploding volcanoes were a real highlight of the Geography Open Evening activities.  Our stand was part of the Humanities Explorer Zone and really captured the imagination of our Year 6 and Year 5 guests.  A big well done to many current Year 7 and Year 8 helpers for their fantastic work as ambassadors, we couldn't have done it without them!  If you were not lucky enough to attend, see the photographs of our vibrant activities below.  We were based in the cold bar room of the School Refectory and the refurbishment really brightened our stands.  We hope to see all of the keen young Year 6 and Year 5 geographers very soon!

Students used bicarbonate of soda, white vinegar, a spot of washing up liquid and red food colouring to simulate different types of volcanic eruptions.

Our colourful display stand, with the bright new wall designs in the cold bar seating area.  Our stand was complete with 'interactive' codes so guests could check out our Blog!
3D Square globe cubes are still a favourite!
